Airbeam® Cover Aeration System

Volatile solids reduction (VSR) and nitrification is challenging in an aerobic digestion process in cold weather, which can increase disposal costs, cause odour problems and process upsets, and affect Class B compliance.

The Airbeam Cover is an innovative technology that integrates a single drop diffuser aeration system with a flat panel aluminium cover. This system consistently maintains a minimum temperature of 15 C (or more during winter operations by effectively retaining the heat inside reactors thus optimising VSR and nitrification performance under the toughest conditions.

Wastewater treatment facilities in cold weather locations often expect reduced VSR and nitrification. When temperatures drop to minus 15 C (5 F), a VSR of around 20 percent is commonplace. The Airbeam Cover aeration system is an innovative technology that integrates a single drop diffuser aeration system with a flat panel aluminium cover, allowing the system to maintain a minimum temperature of 15 C (59 F). By optimising temperature conditions particularly during winter operations, treatment volumes required for aerobic digestion are significantly reduced minimising construction, capital, and energy costs.

The Airbeam Cover aeration system is extremely versatile and can be used in almost any type of tank geometry whether it is a retrofit or new tank construction.The Airbeam Cover aeration system provides several operational advantages over conventional diffuser systems, such as:

The Airbeam Cover aeration system consists of flat aluminium panels. The support beams of the cover are used as air channels for the diffuser system.

Full access to the above water orifice system results in no solids contact with the orifice. The airflow is completely uninhibited through the complete length of the drop pipe with no mechanical devices or swivel joints required to service the orifice

The orifice which is the only part of the diffuser that needs to be accessed for maintenance is completely accessible from the top of the cover. Maintenance is done without having to drain the tank, go inside the tank, or taking the tank out of service.
